C&C Civil & Mining Construction was established in Mackay in 1993 as a labour only formwork and concreting business providing concrete construction services for clients within the Central Queensland Region. In 2005 MARK CLIFFORD (Founder & Director) expanded the services provided by C&C through the addition of MARK SANFILIPPO as a permanent Civil Engineer to estimate and manage larger scale construction projects. From this point C&C grew into a principal contractor for clients undertaking turn key, lumpsum infrastructure projects across Mackay and the Bowen Basin.

Further company expansion followed in 2011 with diversification into robotic Shotcreting Services both in surface and underground applications managed by a new mining project manager Barry Sturgeon. Through this evolution C&C has developed a diversified, unique and successful business which provides Infrastructure and Underground Support Services across Mackay and the Bowen Basin.

Mark is the founding Director of C&C Civil & Mining Construction and brings more than 45 years’ experience across the civil, mining and building construction sectors. As a qualified carpenter, plant operator and site manager, Mark has built the business on a strong foundation of practical construction knowledge, client service, safety, and quality. Under his leadership, C&C Civil & Mining Construction has developed into a trusted construction and shotcreting contractor servicing clients throughout Central Queensland.

Mark is the General Manager of C&C Civil & Mining Construction and brings 30 years’ experience delivering civil and mining infrastructure projects for resource, civil, building, transport, and public sector clients. His strong focus on safety, operational performance and long-term relationships with clients, employees and suppliers has supported the company’s growth from a small labour-only subcontractor in 2005 into a successful medium-sized construction and shotcreting business.

Chris joined C&C Civil & Mining Construction in 2023 as Estimating & Business Development Manager. With more than 30 years’ experience across the civil, industrial, mining, port and urban infrastructure sectors, Chris brings extensive technical knowledge, commercial insight and well-established industry and supplier relationships throughout Central Queensland. He collaborates closely with the General Manager to develop credible tender submissions supported by practical project delivery experience.

Evan joined C&C Civil & Mining Construction in 2018 as a Project Civil Engineer and has progressed to the role of Construction Manager, where he is responsible for the execution of the company’s construction works. With more than 15 years’ experience across the civil, transport, mining and urban infrastructure sectors, Evan is a capable and highly regarded construction professional. He works closely with the General Manager and Estimating Manager to deliver safe, high-quality projects and build long-term client relationships.

Barry manages the shotcreting division of C&C Civil & Mining Construction and has played a key role in the successful establishment and growth of this part of the business since joining the company in 2010. Barry has more than 40 years’ experience in the hard rock and underground coal mining industries, with specialist expertise in fibre-reinforced shotcrete as a ground support system.
